Perdue says House farm bill is fair

U.S. Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue says Congress needs to understand how important the farm bill is to constituents.

“I frankly don’t understand how someone from an ag district in the House can vote against the farm bill.”

He calls the bill fair and an improvement to the 2014 version.  “I’m not sure how people can really say they’re so against just a 20-hour work responsibility or a training responsibility when we’re less at than four percent unemployment.”

He says the goal of the work requirement changes in the House farm bill is to help people transition to an independent lifestyle.
