POET unhappy with cellulosic volumes

The head of POET says the EPA’s final rules on biofuels volumes fall too short on cellulosic ethanol. CEO Jeff Broin says by using starch and cellulosic feedstocks, US biofuel production would grow and “help stabilize farm incomes at a time when rural America needs it most.” Broin says there is enough biomass in the U.S. to eliminate oil imports.  POET’s plant in Emmetsburg, Iowa is one of a handful of cellulosic ethanol plants in the country and the company announced a breakthrough in the production process this fall.
