Poncho/VOTIVO 2.0 proves to increase yield

BASF representatives say Poncho/VOTIVO 2.0 has already proven to be a yield increasing product with an emphasis on sustainability.

Brownfield interviewed Kerry Grossweiler, Seed Solutions Product Manager and Jennifer Riggs, Product Development Manager for BASF at the 2018 Farm Progress Show.

“We have new technology with Poncho/VOTIVO 2.0 that is really unique and different. It is increasing microbial activity around the plant roots which results in greater availability of the nutrients and the uptake by the plant.”

Grossweiler says with this product, farmers are seeing quicker emergence, a taller stance and larger leaf width. As a national average over all soil types and environments, he says, Poncho/VOTIVO 2.0 is giving farmers an additional 3.8 bushel over Poncho/VOTIVO, which already brings 5.1 bushels more than Poncho 250.

Riggs says communicating the science behind how the product works in a way growers understand is an important part of her role.

“Being able to explain how it works and then making sure the growers can still deliver the seed into the soil where they need to do it, at the time they need to do it – that’s our goal. It is all about the seed when they go out and buy the seed, but it’s for us to make sure that what’s on that seed is making it all about the grower at the end of the season”.

Grossweiler encourages growers to ask their local BASF representative about how Poncho/VOTIVO 2.0 could be used on their crops.
