Potato late blight found in Michigan

Michigan officials have confirmed two cases of potato late blight.  Crop consultants found the problems in separate Montcalm County fields on September 6th and 7th, and the disease was verified by Michigan State University.

Both fields have been chemically killed to prevent the spread of the spores.

Michigan State says late blight risk is medium in Michigan now, however, some areas have experienced more favorable conditions in the past several weeks due to frequent and heavy rain events.
