Rain in eastern SD added to slow harvest

South Dakota corn and soybean harvest progress is still behind last year and the average. It was another wet week across much of the eastern part of the state with the heaviest rain totals in extreme southeastern South Dakota. Corn was six-percent harvested as of Sunday. Soybean harvest was 22 percent complete when it’s normally close to 60-percent. Winter wheat planted was 78 percent, on point with last year and the average. Emergence is ahead at 50-percent complete. Sorghum harvest is only 3 percent done, well behind last year and the average. Sunflowers harvested was 10 percent, close to normal.
