Regulatory friendly environment good for Indiana ag

Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb says agriculture will continue to be one of the drivers behind the state’s success.

He tells Brownfield part of the reason for the industry’s success in the state is that has a regulatory environment that is agriculture friendly.  “Regulatory issues at the state level – I want to demolish them,” he says.  “We live in a state that has rational and reasonable regulations.  Something that farmers – every one of them that I’ve met – no one understands that soil and water and air quality is more important than the farmer.”

Holcomb says having infrastructure in place will be vital for job creation and economic growth.  “If we’re going to be that jobs magnet in 20 years,” he says.  “And I think it is going to be driven by this walk and the innovations that come out of the agribusiness sector.”

Holcomb made his remarks following his keynote at the Agribusiness Council of Indiana’s annual meeting in Indianapolis.
