USDA trade trip in Turkey

A USDA trade mission to Turkey is taking along representatives from six state ag departments and folks from 20 U.S. companies are also on the trip: including those from Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska and Missouri.

Acting Deputy Ag Secretary Michael Scuse says, “These companies will have numerous meetings with individuals from Turkey that are interested in buying their products. We’ve also set up government-to-government meetings when we go to Ankarra with the officials from the state departments of agriculture as well as myself.”

The companies represent a variety of ag products from dry beans, fruit and nuts to ag machinery.  The USDA says Turkey’s growing economy and expanding middle class makes it a key market for U.S. food and ag products. In the last decade, U.S. ag exports to Turkey have tripled.
