Sheep grazing tour to feature Amish farms

Sheep 002_editA grazing tour in Holmes County on Friday, July 12 will kick-off a weekend of sheep related activities in Ohio.

Roger High, Executive Director of the Ohio Sheep Improvement Association (OSIA) says the sheep grazing tour will feature four Amish farms.

“On that tour we’re going to be visiting four, progressive Amish sheep farms, in the Charm area,” said High. “We’re going to be looking at grazing, minerals, rotation and breeding and management and a number of things in that area.”

The deadline to register for the sheep grazing tour is July 1. Information is available here. The cost is $35 and limited to the first 100 participants.

Other sheep related activities that weekend, on Saturday, July 13 Ohio Sheep Day is going to be held at the OARDC Sheep Research Facility at Wooster and then on Sunday, July 14, the Ohio Lamb Jam will be held in downtown Columbus at the North Market.
