Sorghum inspections ahead of year ago pace

The USDA reports that as of the week ending March 3rd, U.S. sorghum inspections remain ahead of the previous marketing year’s pace.

Wheat came out at 443,190 tons, up 66,720 from the week ending February 25th and 66,980 higher than the week ending March 5th, 2015. For the 2015/16 marketing year to date, wheat inspections are 15,241,928 tons, compared to 17,374,203 in 2014/15.

Corn was reported at 953,062 tons, 213,574 more than the previous week, but 227,722 less than this time last year. At this point in the marketing year, corn inspections are 15,715,332 tons, compared to 19,767,402 a year ago.

Soybeans were pegged at 1,067,366 tons, 12,184 above the week before and 441,482 larger than last year. So far this marketing year, soybean inspections are 39,546,530 tons, compared to 42,548,497 a year ago.

Sorghum inspections totaled 108,360 tons. That’s a decrease of 320 tons on the week, but an increase of 54,272 on the year. 2015/16 sorghum inspections are 5,265,379 tons, compared to 4,817,621 in 2014/15.
