South Dakota soybean harvest 82% done, corn 27%

South Dakota farmers made some progress harvesting corn and soybeans last week.

The latest crop report from USDA show corn harvest at 27 percent as of Sunday, still well behind the five-year average of 66 percent.

Soybean harvest reached 82 percent complete, eight percent behind last year and 14 percent off the usual pace.

The sunflower harvest is nearly 30 percent done, about three weeks behind normal.

Winter wheat emergence is ahead of last year and slightly faster than average at 91 percent.

Seventy-one percent of the crop is rated good to excellent.
