State of emergency in Missouri

Too much rainA state of emergency has been declared by Missouri Governor Jay Nixon because of heavy rain and flooding.

Besides swamped farm fields in many areas, Missouri has many roads closed because of high water and flash flooding in some places.  The state’s small rivers and streams are especially vulnerable as rains from Tropical Storm Bill pass through the state through tomorrow.

The Missouri Highway Patrol will assist local authorities in responding to flooding.
