Storms cause damage to Wisconsin crops

Severe weather caused problems for some Wisconsin farmers last week.

In its latest crop update, the USDA says scattered thunderstorms with heavy rains and strong winds created lodging in corn and small grains as well as damage to farm buildings.

There were also reports of crop stress as a result of limited soil moisture, although the majority of crops remain in good to excellent condition.

Early planted corn is beginning to silk and many small grains are nearly ready to harvest.
