Sugarbeet harvest running behind

Sugarbeet harvest is only half of its average pace for this time of year because of wet weather.

USDA meteorologist Brad Rippey says the major slowdowns are in the Upper Midwest.

“Sugarbeets—19 percent harvested with the five-year average of 40 percent.  Big delays in Minnesota and North Dakota

Michigan’s harvest is 11 percent behind the average with only 14 percent of the crop moving to processing.
