Taiwan letter of intent to buy U.S. wheat

U.S. Wheat Associates says representatives with Taiwan Flour Millers Association (TFMA) have signed letters of intent to buy wheat and other U.S. grown commodities over the next two years. The millers are part of a Taiwan Ag Trade Goodwill Mission that takes place every other year.

The letter, signed in D.C. this week, says the flour millers association will buy 1.8 Million metric tons (equal to about 66 million bushels) of U.S. wheat between 2020 and 2021, with an estimated value of $567 Million dollars.

The Taiwan Flour Millers have been making their way across the country with upcoming stops in Oklahoma and South Dakota to meet with farmers, grain handlers and state officials.

US Wheat Associates says the Taiwanese people now consume more wheat flour per capita than rice.
