Tennessee crops: 13% corn and 8% soybeans planted

Heavy rains have delayed fieldwork for many farmers in Tennessee.

Corn is 13 percent planted, running just behind the 5-year average.  Soybeans are 8 percent planted, ahead of last year’s pace and the 5-year average.

Winter wheat is 71 percent jointed and 11 percent headed, with 75 percent rated good to excellent.

Pastures are 58% good to excellent as cool season grasses continue to green up.  Apples are 61% blooming and 68 percent of strawberries are rated good to excellent.

Topsoil is 96 percent, and subsoil moisture is 95 percent, adequate to surplus.
