Tennessee crops mostly ahead of average

Portions of Tennessee have received needed rain while others could soon see drought stress.

Corn is rated 78% good to excellent with 84% silking and 34% in the dough stage.  Soybeans are rated 79% good to excellent with 64% blooming, and 30% setting pods.  Cotton is rated 62% good to excellent with 84% squaring and 30% setting bolls. 

Pasture conditions are currently 69% good to excellent.  Tobacco is rated 77% good to excellent with 22% topped.

Topsoil moisture is 84% adequate to surplus and subsoil moisture is 81% adequate to surplus.
