Trump admin focused on brining fertilizer production back to US, Sec. Rollins says

Ag Secretary Brooke Rollins says US farmers have dealt with high fertilizer prices for far too long.

“The high cost of fertilizer is not new,” she said. “The cost of urea, potash, MAP, DAP, ammonia, and UAN all rose swiftly beginning in 2022.”

Speaking at the recent Farm Progress Show, she said progress has been made to help move fertilizer lower.

“Compared to 2022, even though we know it’s still high, urea is now down 57%, potash down 53%, and ammonia down 50%.”

But Rollins says there’s more work to do.

“Once upon a time almost all fertilizer came from American fertilizer companies,” she said. “In the last couple of decades, we’ve seen 60% of that offshore, to where now we are reliant on countries like Russia, Ukraine, China, Morocco and others.”

Rollins says the Trump administration is focused on bringing fertilizer production back to the United States.
