Two more GMO traits receive Chinese approval

China has approved two more genetically modified (GMO) crop traits for import.

They are Syngenta’s AgriSure Duracade insect-reisistant corn trait, and Monsanto’s 87427 glyphosate-resistant corn, sold under the Roundup Ready brand.

It’s the second such move by China in the past month to expand access to biotech seeds as part of trade talks with the U.S. Last month China gave the go-ahead to Dow’s Enlist corn and Monsanto’s Vistive Gold soybeans.

Four other GMO products are still on a waiting list pending approval from China—DuPont Pioneer’s insect-resistant Qrome corn; Dow’s Enlist soybeans; and two alfalfa products developed by Monsanto.
