Winter weather could delay planting in Minnesota

Parts of Minnesota reported record snow fall by mid-February.

The USDA says Hastings in southeastern Minnesota had nearly 27 inches of snow by mid-February, with the state average precipitation almost two inches higher than normal and most of the state was also colder than normal.

Activity was limited to plowing snow, the care and feeding of livestock, and moving grain and spreading manure when conditions allowed.

Spring planting could be delayed.

The USDA’s weekly crop progress reports resume April 1st.
