Wisconsin Beef Improvement Association has record sale

The Wisconsin Beef Improvement Association held their Central Bull Test Sale recently Fifty-seven bulls sold for an average $2,155, the highest average in the 52 years of the sale. Bulls from the sale at U.W. Platteville are going to Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois and Minnesota.

There were 36 Angus bulls sold for an average $2,260. Top Angus was sold by Hermann Wolters of Cuba City, Wisconsin for $4,200 purchased by Biddick Incorporated of Livingston, Wisconsin.

The top Simmental bull was from Timber Spring Farm of RichlandCenter, Wisconsin. The bull was purchased by Kevin Chitwood of Muscoda, Wisconsin for $4,000. A total of 10 Simmental bulls were sold for an average $2,115.

Seven Red Angus were sold for a $1,985 average. Travis and Becky Kramer of Wauzeka, Wisconsin paid $3,100 for thetop Red from the U.W. Platteville Farm.

Three Gelbvieh Composites averaged $1,650 with Kapinus Farms of Prairie du Chien consigning the top bull, an Angus Gelbvieh cross purchased by Larry Kapinus Jr. for $1,850.

One South Devon bull consigned byJane Homan of Hillpoint, Wisconsin sold for $1,500 to Walter Smith of Portage.
