Zilpaterol found in some U.S. beef in Taiwan

Taiwan’s Food and Drug Administration says it has found the growth promotant zilpaterol in some U.S. beef. The tainted beef was found in a restaurant and the nearly 450 pounds was destroyed.

Like most of Asia, Taiwan has a zero-tolerance for growth promotants. This is the third time zilpaterol has been found in U.S. beef in Asia since Merck halted sales of their popular Zilmax on August 15th.
