Agriculture is bringing sexy back

Gone are the days where jobs in agriculture mean you’re tied to the farm; doing the same thing over and over again.  Greg Duerksen is president of Kincannon and Reed and works as a head hunter for the agriculture industry. Duerksen told attendees of Bayer CropScience’s Ag Issues Form that careers in agriculture are becoming sexy again.

He says technology is changing agriculture’s workforce.  “It allows us to leverage our minds rather than our limbs.”  Duerksen adds, “When you’re able to leverage technology you’re able to spend a dramatically greater portion of your time thinking; and that gives you the intellectual challenge and desire to keep doing more of that kind of work.”

It isn’t just one career in ag that’s becoming sexy again, Duerksen says it’s all of them.
