BASF announces details on new fungicide

In the next 50 years, Paul Rea, Vice President of U.S. Crop Protection for BASF said American farmers will have to produce as much food as has been produced in all of human history. Rea said the future will be about doing more with less in a sustainable way.

BASF announced details this week about what Rea calls a “brand new blockbuster” product. Xemium fungicide is a next-generation fungicide in the carboxamide family. Research shows Xeumium provides effective curative and long-lasting preventative control of fungal diseases in a variety of crops including corn, soybean, cereals and specialty crops. BASF plans to introduce Xemium in the United States in 2012.
