Why Big Data is a big deal
Big Data is one of the hottest topics being discussed in San Antonio this year.
Illinois Corn Grower Association president Gary Hudson says it’s a conversation that grower associations need to have – for many reason. “We will try to come to a consensus as to what we want to protect, what we’re willing to allow,” he says. “We’ll also discuss whether we’re going to give data for free or if we’re expecting compensation for our data.”
And, Hudson tells Brownfield, there are other concerns, too. “Think about this,” he says. “If somebody could actually grab data from a number of farmers – two or three days prior to a government report they could probably play the market for a big hit.”
Corn growers will work to set their policy today.
