FFA’s National Days of Service

Throughout the National FFA Convention, more than 1,000 FFA members will volunteer at one of eleven locations in Central Indiana as part of the FFA’s National Days of Service.  Sydney Weis of the East Union FFA Chapter in Iowa and Race McClone of Wisconsin’s Bonduel  FFA Chapter were lending a hand at the Maplelawn Farmstead located in the middle of Zionsville, Indiana.  Weis says this is her first year participating in the National Days of Service.  She says it’s a really good experience that even allows her to meet new people and make new friends.

Chris Garvey, chairman of the Maplelawn Farmstead, says they have been partnering with the National FFA organization as part of their Days of Service since the convention moved to Indy.  Garvey says the partnership is a very good thing.  He says with all the people from both FFA and the sponsor CSX coming together they have the opportunity to preserve history and preserve green space, in addition to doing something nice for not only the community and state, but the country as well.  Garvey says it is very unique to see the collaboration from multiple organizations collaborate for the benefit of one service effort.
