International Dairy Person of the Year

The International Dairy Person of the Year at World Dairy Expo this year is Kevin Lang of South Africa. Though his roots are not in the dairy industry, Lang did get into milking cows when a grocery store chain launched an exclusive line of Ayrshire milk. The popularity of the Ayrshire line grew quickly so Lang started processing milk from his farm and other Ayrshire producers as well. He purchased a 1,500-cow Holstein herd and created a private label processing business as well. Today, Fairfield Dairy processes more than 313,000 pounds of milk per day.
