Inviting dairy producers to Missouri

DrennanDave Drennan is Executive Director of the Missouri Dairy Association and is at World Dairy Expo with the Missouri Dairy Growth Council. He says it has been a challenging year for the dairy industry in his state. “At least we’ve got hay this year,” says Drennan but unfortunately, milk prices are down. The Show Me State lost about a hundred dairies in the last year because they just ran out of feed. “They just gave up and go out.”

He says the state has more dairy processing capacity than they have production, 60 percent of the milk processed in the state comes from outside Missouri. “And that is why we are up here encouraging dairy farmers to move to Missouri.” He is also inviting producers to a couple of upcoming conferences, the Missouri Dairy Grazing Conference later this month and the Heart of America Dairy Expo in January. Both are in Springfield, Missouri and open to anyone interested in learning more about dairying in Missouri.
