Recruiting the future of the ag industry

For Bryn Poliska-Jennson, Marketing and Producer Outreach Coordinator for the National Pork Board, taking part in the National FFA Convention’s Career Show makes sense. Poliska-Jennson tells Brownfield they realize the importance of the National FFA program.  She says these students are the future for the agriculture and swine industry.  The National Pork Board’s goal, Poliska-Jennson says is to continue to educate about the swine entrepreneurship and also make sure the teachers have adequate resources so they, too can teach about swine.

Poliska-Jennson says many of the life skills that make a good intern, employee and even future swine producer all started in 4-H and FFA.  The responsibilities that we all have gained through livestock, the opportunities and skills gained through record keeping and even the ag sales competitions, she says, have truly impacted our lives and that’s why so many continue on in the agriculture industry.

Poliska-Jennson says they also use the Career Show at the National FFA Convention to start the conversation about the many career opportunities available in the pork industry.
