Special Report

The Future of Crop Insurance is Now!

The Future of Crop Insurance is Now! sponsored by John Deere Insurance is one of the learning center sessions those attending Commodity Classic in Tampa, Florida, will have the chance to attend.

Erick Schminke, Crop Insurance Development Manager with John Deere Insurance will kick off the session by talking about the common crop insurance policy and what it means to producers operations. Johnny Oakley, Manager, Market Development, John Deere Insurance Company tells Brownfield that Schminke will also offer insight, given his experience in the industry, relative to the types of coverage and coverage levels growers should consider in this unprecedented economic time.

Having been both an agent and an adjuster, Schminke will offer some insight into the market that we are in today and how crop insurance can play a major role in helping a farmer protect his income.

Michael Scuse, Acting Under Secretary for Farm and Foreign Agricultural Services will talk to producers about USDA’s current effort to simplify governmental farm program reporting through enhanced utilization of precision farming technology. USDA is currently engaged with crop insurance providers and ag precision technology companies to develop industry standards and processes.

Oakley encourages producers coming to Commodity Classic to attend the class, Friday afternoon, March 4, from 3:30 – 4:30 in the main convention center building in rooms 20 and 21.

John Deere Insurance will also be part of the John Deere display on the main convention center floor.

Listen to Cyndi Young’s conversation with John Oakley.
