A cool pattern to dominate the Heartland; beneficial rains ahead for parts of the Plains

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of  near- or below-normal temperatures in most areas from the Rockies to the East Coast, while warmer-than-normal weather will be confined to Florida’s peninsula and the Far West. 

Meanwhile, near- or above-normal precipitation throughout the central and eastern U.S. should contrast with drier-than-normal conditions in much of the West.
