An active pattern for most of the Nation; unseasonably mild across the Heartland

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or above-normal temperatures nationwide, except for cooler-than-normal conditions in southern California and the Desert Southwest.

Meanwhile, near- or below-normal precipitation across the southern High Plains and the Gulf Coast region should contrast with wetter-than-normal weather across the remainder of the country, with northern and central California remaining the focus for potentially extreme storminess and intense precipitation.
