Brownfield Ag Weather Today

Subtropical Storm Nicole, currently centered more than 500 miles east of the northwestern Bahamas, will drift generally westward over the next several days.  Hazards facing the southern Atlantic Coast later this week may include heavy showers, high winds, coastal flooding, rough surf, and beach erosion.  In addition, Nicole may strengthen and could become a hurricane while approaching the east coast of Florida.  Meanwhile, a sprawling low-pressure system near the northern Pacific Coast will drift inland by mid-week and should cross the central Plains on Thursday.  Subsequently, the storm system will reach the Great Lakes region late in the week.  The most significant swath of precipitation associated with the Western system should stretch from California into the upper Great Lakes region, with wind-driven snow expected from the Sierra Nevada to the northern Plains.  Cold air currently focused across the Northwest will expand as the storm system moves eastward.  Late in the week, tropical moisture associated with Nicole may be drawn northward along the Atlantic Coast.
