Brownfield Ag Weather Today

Tropical Storm Nicole should reach Florida’s east coast late Wednesday or Thursday, possibly achieving hurricane intensity prior to landfall.  Rainfall associated with Nicole could cause renewed flooding along the St. Johns River, where minor to moderate flooding lingers more than a month after Hurricane Ian’s strike.  Additional hazards related to Nicole’s upcoming strike on Florida may include heavy surf, a dangerous storm surge, and beach erosion.  Storm-related concerns, including possible flooding and coastal impacts, may spread northward along the Atlantic Seaboard late in the week.  Meanwhile, a sprawling storm system will gradually move inland across the western U.S.  Significant precipitation should fall from California to the upper Great Lakes region, with accumulating snow expected at high-elevation sites—including the Sierra Nevada—and across northern Minnesota and portions of the northern Plains.  In contrast, little or no precipitation will fall during the next 5 days from the central and southern Plains into the middle and lower Mississippi Valley.
