Brownfield Ag Weather Today

For the remainder of the week, temperatures typical of early autumn will blanket much of the country, with lingering heat mostly confined to the Far West and Deep South.  Meanwhile, a cold front currently stretching from the Great Lakes States to the southern Plains will drift eastward, reaching the Atlantic Seaboard around the middle of the week.  Rainfall associated with the cold front should total an inch or less in most areas, except 1 to 2 inches in the Northeast.  Later in the week, a new disturbance will emerge from the Southwest before crossing the nation’s mid-section.  That system will help to focus mid- to late-week precipitation across the Four Corners States and the central and southern Plains.  In contrast, dry weather will prevail during the next 5 days in the Far West and much of the north-central U.S.  Elsewhere, the northern Atlantic Coast will need to monitor the progress of Hurricane Lee, which could approach coastal New England as early as Saturday.
