Behind the Scenes

28th Annual KMMO Ag Day a huge success!

Brownfield Ag News affiliate radio station KMMO held its 29th annual Ag Day Thursday on the Seth and Lyndsey Tyre farm near Slater, Missouri.  The free lunch featuring steak sandwiches cooked by the Saline County Cattlemen and pork burgers cooked by the Santa Fe Agri-Leaders, was served up with all the trimmings by members of the Slater, Marshall, Santa Fe and Malta Bend FFA.

KMMO Farm Director Brian Sowers put another great program together, featuring presentations by the Marshall FFA Ag Issues Team, Missouri State Fair Director Mark Wolfe, Missouri Farm Service Agency (FSA) Director Mark Cadle, Past Missouri Corn Growers Association President Billy Thiel, and Executive Director of  Missouri Agricultural and Small Business Development Authority Tony Stafford.  Other speakers included Dale Ludwig, Executive Director/CEO of the Missouri Soybean Association (MSA), the Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council ( MSMC);  Mike Deering, Executive Vice President of Missouri Cattlemen’s Association;  Don Nikodim, Executive Director of Missouri Pork Producers Association; Trent Loos and Yours Truly.

The keynote address was given by Missouri Levee and Drainage District Association Chairman Tom Waters.

It was a great crowd.  There was a lot of talk about how cool it was compared to the same day last year when farmers were busy planting corn.
