Benefiting from the drought

It looks like the state of Nebraska has seen some benefit from the drought in 2003. According to a story in today’s Lincoln Journal Star, irrigation brought in $4.5 billion for the economy. The lack of precipitation cost farmers dearly, but it added 45,000 jobs in the states. The data comes from a study conducted by the Nebraska Policy Institute.
