Brownfield reporter awarded for teamwork with Michigan farm media

Partnership among Michigan farm media outlets was recognized by the American Agricultural Editor’s Association during a recent awards program.

Brownfield Anchor/Reporter Nicole Heslip paired up with the Michigan Farmer Magazine and Michigan Farm News to highlight the need for agricultural educators in a series of stories shared throughout the summer of 2016.

Michigan Farmer Magazine editor Jennifer Kiel spear-headed the effort and devised a strategy with Heslip and Michigan Farm News editor Paul Jackson to explain how a lack of ag educators is putting many agriscience programs in jeopardy in Michigan and across the country.

The series of stories placed third for team story in the American Agricultural Editor’s Association 2017 Communications Awards.

Heslip also was awarded a level one master writer by the association.
