Renting the hen house

In the name of full disclosure, this is my alma mater — or else it might not make the blog   ðŸ™‚

According to a story in today’s Champaign News-Gazette, the University of Illinois has sold the 80-year-old bungalow house on the school’s South Farm for $1. The home, which used to house the manager of the university’s poultry farm, was bought by a Chicagoland developer who plans to relocate it closer to campus. The house will likely be fixed up and rented to students, according to the news report.

The entire poultry farm, along with several other species, is being relocated further from campus to make room for the school’s expansion. New tennis facilities will soon take the place of the old poultry manager’s quarters.
