18% of U.S. corn, 21% of soybeans harvested

The USDA reports late corn and soybean development is close to normal, and the soybean harvest pace has pulled ahead of corn.

As of Sunday, 97% of corn is dented, matching the five year average, and 71% has matured, a little slower than usual. 18% of the crop is harvested, compared to 23% on average. 68% of corn is rated good to excellent, steady on the week.

74% of soybeans are dropping leaves, compared to 70% on average, and 21% is harvested, compared to 16% typically this time of year. 62% of soybeans are called good to excellent, down 1%.

31% of winter wheat is planted and 7% has emerged, both 4% behind normal.

43% of U.S. pastures and rangelands are in good to excellent shape, 3% less than a week ago.
