30% of Indiana corn, 52% of soybeans harvested

The USDA says cool weather and scattered rain showers slowed harvest progress last week in Indiana.

Thirty percent of the state’s corn crop was harvested as of Sunday, behind the five-year average of 40%, with 92% of the crop mature. The condition of corn remaining in fields was rated 67% good to excellent.

Soybeans harvested reached 52% on Sunday, just ahead of the five-year average pace of 51%. Ninety-six percent of the crop is dropping leaves.

USDA says 40% of the state’s expected winter wheat crop has been planted, behind the five-year average of 49%.
