A closer look at the U.S. ethanol outlook

The chief economist for the Renewable Fuels Association says last year was strong for the U.S. ethanol industry and he’s optimistic for continued strength in 2024.

“E15, exports and sustainable aviation fuel will allow us to keep growing in the years ahead.”

Scott Richman says Sustainable Aviation Fuel and year-round E15 require strong policy and infrastructure investments.

“That will really help retailers out there feel like there’s consistency.”

Richman says expanding international ethanol markets and overcoming trade barriers would also be beneficial.

“In Brazil, they have a 16% tariff. It would be nice to see them return to some kind of reciprocity with the United States.”

Attendees at the conference will take a closer look at the ethanol outlook today. Read RFA’s ethanol outlook.
