ADM and CGB say ‘no’ to Syngenta crop

Several more U.S. grain handlers say they won’t accept crops containing Syngenta’s new GMO trait until major importers approve it.

According to Reuters, Archer Daniels Midland of Illinois said Friday it would not accept Duracade crops for export or domestic processing. Today, Reuters reports Consolidated Grain and Barge Company of Louisiana, a large grain shipper on the Mississippi River system, said it would reject those crops as well. Previously, Cargill Incorporated and Bunge Limited indicated a similar stance.

However, Syngenta told Reuters that grain trader Gavilon has agreed to accept Duracade crops –quote- “at market price while providing stewardship and distribution services for producers.”
