Almost a quarter of South Dakota’s corn crop is mature

South Dakota’s corn crop is rated 68 percent good to excellent. The USDA says the crop is about three-quarters dented, and almost a quarter of it is mature, which is well ahead of last year.

Soybeans are 66 percent good to excellent. Forty percent of South Dakota soybeans are dropping leaves, which is about the same as last year, but 25 percent ahead of normal.

Sorghum is 65 percent good to excellent and 13 percent mature.

South Dakota pastures are only 26 percent good to excellent.

Topsoil moisture is 47 percent adequate; there is no surplus.
