Anheuser-Busch to promote organic farming in Super Bowl commercial

Organic farming is the highlight of a Super Bowl LIV commercial from Anheuser-Busch.

After angering corn farmers in 2019 by advertising against the use of corn syrup in beer, the company is now offering to convert six square feet of farmland to organic agriculture for every six pack of Michelob ULTRA Pure Gold that they sell in the next year through their 6 for 6 -Pack program.

The ad says that less than 1% of American farming is organic and that football fans can help farmers transition to organic by purchasing the product, allowing consumers to drive change. But to convert a single acre of land, consumers will need to buy more than 7,000 six-packs of the light lager.

Michelob ULTRA Pure Gold, launched in 2018, was the first national beer brand to be USDA- certified organic.  The 6 for 6- Pack program is an expansion of the company’s Contract for Change program which offers three to six-year transitional barley contracts with premiums for transitional and organic barley production.
