ASI legislative trip to Washington, D.C.

A delegation of Ohio sheep producers will be in Washington, D.C. this week for the American Sheep Industry’s annual spring legislative trip.

Roger High, Executive Director of the Ohio Sheep Improvement Association (OSIA) says they’ll be talking with Ohio’s congressional delegation about a number of issues, including immigration.

“Even though the Ohio sheep industry doesn’t use a lot of the H-2A program, it’s pretty important for the Western sheep industry,” High said. “The Western sheep industry relies very heavily on immigration with their sheep shearers, herders and some of those jobs that American’s don’t necessarily like to do, or want to do, but those people are willing to come in and do that work for us.”

In addition to immigration, Roger says there are a number of funding issues to discuss with legislators as well.
