Attorneys for dicamba plaintiffs met with judge

An attorney for some of the farmer defendants suing the makers of newer dicamba herbicides says the cases are moving forward. Don Downing, with Gray, Ritter & Graham in St. Louis, attended a preliminary meeting with plaintiffs’ lawyers in the multi-jurisdictional case late last month where Monsanto is among those named as defendants, “There are some other defendants that have been named in some of the cases; BASF and DuPont. And then there’s also some cases that have been filed that are coordinated as part of this multi-district litigation that name Monsanto and other defendants in an anti-trust complaint.”

All of the dicamba off-target damage lawsuits at the federal level have been combined to be heard by federal judge Stephen Limbaugh in the Eastern District of Missouri in Cape Girardeau. Some of the cases have been filed as class-action lawsuits. Downing tells Brownfield another hearing is scheduled for next week.
