Base milk prices nudge a little higher

Farm milk prices will nudge a little higher this month. The base milk prices increased for the second month in a row in September. The base for Class II milk is $11.01 per hundredweight, 15-cents higher than in August but still $6.57 below September of last year. The Class III base price is $12.11, up 91-cents from August but $4.17 below a year ago. Class IV base for September is $11.15, up 83-cents from last month and $4.30 below last year.

Component prices per pound for September milk: Butterfat $1.2226; Protein $2.4243; Nonfat solids $.7906; Other solids $.1018.
