Beneficial weather helps Minnesota crops

Beneficial weather helped further along the small grains harvest in Minnesota and brought needed precipitation to row crops.

The USDA says despite scattered rains, there were more than five days suitable for the week.

The spring wheat harvest advanced to 94 percent complete.  The oat for grain harvest is nearly 90 percent done.  And just four percent of the barley crop remains unharvested.

Over 90 percent of the Minnesota corn crop has reached the dent stage, 10 days ahead of the five-year average.  Corn condition was rated 75 percent good to excellent.

The corn silage harvest is also pacing about 10 days ahead at 11 percent.

Fifteen percent of the soybean crop was turning color, four days ahead of normal, with 72 percent of the acres rated good to excellent.
