CA lawmakers consider animal abuse registry

California lawmakers will consider a bill that would place animal abusers on the same level as sex offenders by listing them in an online registry, complete with their home addresses and places of employment.

The bill was introduced by the California state senate’s majority leader Dean Florez, who also chairs the food and agriculture committee.  He says the law would provide valuable information to those who have animals and want to take care of them.  The legislation has been endorsed by the Humane Society of the United States.

  • Is there any level of insanity that California lawmakers won’t consider forcing upon the taxpayers of that late, great state? Yet another reason I abandoned the Left Coast in the 1980’s and haven’t looked back since!

  • its an excellent idea. americans dont like animal abusers. if they’re in business they should be put out of business and in jail.
