Cattlewomen urge support of Right to Farm

Rep. Wanda Brown and Missouri Cattlewomen's President Brenda Black, 2013 Missouri State FairTwo Missouri leaders are urging the public to vote NEXT year for the Right to Farm measure that passed the Missouri Legislature THIS year.

State Representative Wanda Brown, a cattle producer in Henry County, tells Brownfield Ag News that was a big step for agriculture, “Yes, definitely and in November 2014, we’re going to have it on the ballot. We want to encourage everyone to vote ‘yes’ to protect (Missouri) agriculture and our food supply.”

Missouri Cattlewomen’s President Brenda Black tells Brownfield the right to farm is important to everyone in the state, “I think the thing that people need to know in the general population that this is not a license to do anything that isn’t above board. It’s just the permission to do it the right way.”

Black says farmers and ranchers need the public’s support, “We need to continue to support the farmers in this great state of Missouri that make your life a whole lot more comfortable and possible.”

Black was this year’s first-ever Missouri State Fair Women in Ag winner.
